When Instagram Killed the Tabloid Star – The New York Times

The launch of Instagram in 2010 created a whole new way to see celebrity culture; no longer through the lens of the paparazzi and tabloids. The first decade of this century and Hollywood now inspires nostalgia, naturally in the form of an Instagram account called “Pop Culture Died in 2009,” which resurrects the era’s Us Weekly spreads, pap shots on Tumblr, and retelling old tabloid tales.

Netflix reopens iconic New York theater to showcase its most prestigious films – The Verge

Netflix is keeping New York’s Paris Theater open – it is now home to Netflix Originals. The space will be used to play some of Netflix’s most prestigious films, special events, and screenings. The theater closed in August, but Netflix reopened it for a limited time to screen Noah Baumbach’s new movie, Marriage Story. The move comes as AMC Theaters and Regal have refused to stream Netflix originals because of discrepancies over exclusive theatrical windows.

Facebook's Viewpoints research app pays you to take surveys – Engadget

Facebook is yet again releasing another tool, this one is called Viewpoints. The new market research feature pays you for completing surveys, research, and other tasks that will help refine its products. Through the new tool, you earn points and automatically receive PayPal contributions whenever you reach point milestones. Viewpoints is currently available to U.S. Facebook account holders, but plans to expand to other countries in 2020.

Gen Z, Millennials, Gen X, and Boomers are different in many ways, especially when it comes to shopping preferences. Research showed that aside from Gen Z teenagers, most of the respondents wanted to purchases things for their children. On the flip side, Gen Z was in the “treat yourself” mentality with almost 22% planning to splurge the most on themselves during the holiday shopping season.
